Rising Starr Horse Rescue, located in Wilton, CT is committed to helping children, teens, and adults develop self confidence through riding. We offer an exciting and enriched learning environment for the mind, body, and soul. What better way to learn communication, work and developmental skills than by having fun?  Our riders are trained at a level often found only in Competitive show barns, but we teach at that level without the pressure. Kelly Stackpole, owner and trainer has 34 years experience training riders and horses.

We encourage teamwork while teaching independence. The result is amazing, remarkable confidence and the feeling of empowerment that comes from working with horses and learning to become an effective rider, partner and caregiver. We have riders of all ages, male and female. We welcome all levels and disciplines of riding, whether it be English which is our primary or Western. Our instructors individualize each rider's program to suit their personal goals. The first and foremost concern of Rising Starr Horse Rescue is the safety and happiness of each of our riders and horses. We offer many programs and are open all year long. Come visit us and experience horse ownership and friendship for yourself. Fully Insured.

Rising Starr Horse Rescue saves, rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes abandoned, neglected or abused horses and educate about at-risk horses and the importance of protecting them. By giving America's horses a second chance at life we give the community the chance to experience the love, patience and compassion horses have for humans.

SUMMER RIDING PROGRAM - Now enrolling for 2022!

A Summer Riding Program is available for beginners and younger riders. Ages 6 to 12 (for older students, adults or advanced riders please ask about our weekly independent riding program). The program runs Mon-Fri weekly from June  - August. We are very limited in space. No spot will be held without full registration and deposit.

A typical day of fun and riding includes grooming, riding Instruction 1 to 1.5 hours, natural horsemanship, feeding and care, first aid, barn care, tacking up, equine yoga, hiking, responsibility of horse ownership, mounted fun time, trail ride in addition to lessons (always with instructors), crafts, games mounted and unmounted, classroom time, clinics with a vet and blacksmith, loading trailer and riding demonstrations, and team building. When time and weather allows, students will ride bareback and/or extra afternoon riding 1pm to 3pm. Two riding instructors are in the ring with all beginner groups. All riders get one-on-one mounted time everyday. At the end of each week, we have a horse showoff day for family and friends where everyone leaves with a feeling of accomplishment. This is a great opportunity for the children to show friends and family what they have learned.

Kelly Stackpole has been teaching riders and training horses professionally for more than thirty years. After more than two decades teaching and training at the national level, Kelly decided her true passion was to teach non-competitively so that she could guide both students and horse owners to become 100% involved in the process of horse ownership and as a result form a significant and bonded relationship with their horses.

Kelly started Rising Starr Horse Rescue as a way to give back to the animals she loves and to give all children a place where they can participate and express their own love of horses.
