The Fairfield Museum and History Center believes in the power of history, art, and humanities to inspire the imagination, stimulate thought, and transform society. We connect people around the complex history of Fairfield, CT and surrounding communities so that, together, we may shape a more informed future.

We believe the humanities and the arts are powerful platforms for examining and understanding the civic values and responsibilities of our democratic society. As a public forum for the process of shared discovery, we celebrate and cultivate the elements that create and bind community: complex stories and artistic expressions from multiple points of view that explore the diverse legacies of our region.

The Fairfield Museum is delighted to welcome K-12 teachers, students, community groups, and families to experience our award-winning interactive history and art programs. The Museum aims to use the past as a starting point to explore important current issues and questions. We believe that cultivating a deep appreciation of history is essential to building civic engagement. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, we can encourage participants to consider their own role and agency within their community.

Family Programs

The Museum offers a range of programs for families with young children to experience history together. Through experimentation and fun hands-on activities, families will play, explore the galleries, make art, and build a deeper understanding of their roles in our community.

Camps

Join the Fairfield Museum for our unforgettable summer camps! Designed for kids ages 7-12, our camps bring history to life through art-making, gallery exploration, outdoor play on the Museum Commons, and many more hands-on activities. Each week features a different theme inspired by the Museum’s rich collections and exhibitions. Whether your child has an interest in archaeology, history, or the arts, you’ll be sure to find a program that’s right for them.

Community Groups

Community groups, boy and girl scout troops, and senior centers are invited to visit the Museum’s galleries for interactive programs and tours.

K-12 Programs

Walking Tours, Gallery Tours, Primary Source Workshops, Living History experiences, tours of the 1750 Ogden House, and programs in Fairfield County schools serve over 6,000 students and educators each year from across the state.
