2023 Memorial Day Roundup

For many, Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer or the start of bbq, camping, boating and beach season which is very exciting! But let's not forget that the true meaning of Memorial Day is to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces for our country.

Below is a list of events, activities and idea for the family to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday. 

Teaching Kids About Memorial Day

Here are some simple ways to teach kids about Memorial Day. 

  1. Create and fly the American flag. Teach your kids about the meaning behind our country's flag.
  2. Visit and pay tribute at a local Veteran's cemetery or war memorial. 
  3. Celebrate by attending a local parade or ceremony. See event list below. 
  4. Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00pm local time 
  5. Create a care package with letters, crafts and/or notes for a veteran or active military member.
